project 365 photo: 09.25.2011 {preschool sunday}
This morning was "Preschool Sunday" at the church to give the congregation a chance to see the children they support. We've not found a new church "home" so it also gave us a chance to check this one out. There were tons of kids there & the preschoolers got to sing a song during the service. Cassidy did great - singing loudly right up front!

project 365 photo: 09.21.2011 {aggressive love}
That's the kind of love our not-so-small cat, Gus, gives. If he's rejected at your feet, he'll just find another spot to get comfy & cozy. I recently came across some pictures of when we first got him & Marco seven years ago. They were so tiny!

project 365 photo: 09.20.2011 {cake}
I let Cassidy pick out dessert while we were at the grocery store. Of course she chose cupcakes from the bakery that had a foot of bright red dyed icing on top. Too bad I didn't think to set parameters before letting her loose on that decision! But, since those type things are a rare occurrence in our house, we just went with it.
Both girls ate the fastest & least whiny dinner that they've had in the past three months. While we were eating Michael reminded Kalea that her birthday was coming up soon. I asked, "How old will you be, Kalea? How many will you be on your birthday?" She looked over at the counter & said, "Birfday! Cake! I eat!!!" At least she has the important facts down!
After dinner the girls lost their tops (not my first time at this rodeo, thank you very much!) & dug in. We just cracked up with the amount of cake & icing that didn't quite make it inside their mouths....it was on the table, chairs, floor, up their arms, on their hands & somehow some even ended up on the wall! At least we know for sure that they enjoyed it!

project 365 photo: 09.17.2011 {true love}
Since our wedding, I've become a total sap at other people's weddings. The sermon gets me every time, the ring bearers & little flower girls crack me up, the poems & inspirational readings make me tear up and just watching the bride & groom watch each other in the excitement of those amazing moments remind me of how wonderful my husband is. Every.single.time.

project 365 photo: 09.16.2011 {40 miles from Denver}
For the first time since B.C. (before children), Michael & I took an multi-night trip away from the shenanigans of house & home. We headed to Colorado for the wedding of our friend Scott & his beautiful bride, Neysa. The day before I drove down to Macon & dropped off the girls for their first sleepover at Gran & Poppy's house. I stayed for dinner, bath & bedtime before jumping in the car for the two hour drive back. Apparently Cassidy hadn't counted on me staying though because during dinner she asked me, "Mommy, why are you still here?" I took it as a good sign that she wasn't going to have anxiety about being there without Mommy & Daddy. Which was true - they ended up having a blast & loved every minute of spending time with Gran, Poppy, aunts, uncles & cousins! We had a great time too. It was simply amazing the ease with which we got to the airport, through security, on the plane & to our destination. On more than one occasion Michael or I looked at our arms & hands in wonder of the lack of stuff we were carrying!The weekend was wonderful - full of old friends & new friends. It was just the kind of wedding that makes you appreciative of all the good in your friends, their friends & family. At one point I said to Michael that it was just so easy to be with everyone no matter if we'd known them decades or days.

project 365 photo: 09.14.2011 {these boots}
What is it about Mommy's shoes that makes every little girl immediately want to put them on & stomp around? She was such a big helper while Mommy packed to go out to Colorado!

project 365 photo: 09.10.2011 {monkey bread}

Ingredients:
2 cans refrigerated biscuits
1/2 cup packed brown sugar
1 stick butter (1 cup)
1/2 cup white sugar
2 Tablespoons cinnamon
1/2 cup raisins (optional)
Directions:
1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F and grease a 9-10 inch tube pan.
2. Mix white sugar and cinnamon in a medium sized plastic bag. Cut the biscuits into quarters (use a pizza cutter!) and place biscuit pieces in the sugar cinnamon mix. Shake well.
3. Arrange pieces in the bottom of the greased pan. Continue layering until all the biscuit pieces are coated and in the pan. If you are using raisins, place them among the biscuit pieces as you are layering.
4. In a small saucepan, melt the butter with the brown sugar over medium heat. Boil for 1 minute. Pour over the layered biscuits.
5. Bake for 35 minutes. Let bread cool in pan for 10 minutes, then turn out onto a plate. Pull apart and enjoy!
