an april recap.

It's been almost a month since I blogged & what a month it's been. I didn't manage to keep up with our Project 365 Photo project, but vow to start anew tomorrow. Since you heard last we've been up to a lot. And I mean, a lot.

Lumpy #3 is on the way! Due date: November 15, 2011 (8 years to the day after our first date!)
Michael also accepted & started a new job in Atlanta. Yes, Atlanta. We're moving to the East Coast!

The company he is now working for is treating us very well & has a great relocation company that will take care of packing up the house, moving everything - including cars, and then unpacking in our new house. They sent each of the girls a special moving teddy bear & some children's books about moving. The girls like the bears, like the books & love the boxes they came in! (If you can't tell, they're both walking around the living room with boxes over their heads! It.was.hysterical!)
We're kind of going through things & getting rid of items that we just don't need to move back across the country. Things like old paint, rusty tools, concert t-shirts from the 80s & this beautiful plaid, 100 ton, sleeper sofa that's been "in the family" since before we were a family. And has been living in the man cave, AKA: garage, for the past three years. Thank goodness for small favors & Craigslist where people will come pick up your treasures for the low, low price of $1.
Michael spent the third full week of April in Atlanta. While he was gone the girls & I went to This is the Place Heritage Park. This is the Place is built on the site where, it is said, that Brigham Young looked out of his wagon after long days of travel & proclaimed, "It is enough. This is the right place. Drive on." And so the Mormon pioneers began settling in this area. It's a neat historic village recreated to be similar to life when the pioneers settled here over 150 years ago. They also have a baby animal exhibit each spring - our main reason for spending the day there!
Michael flew back after a week of business in Atlanta just in time to paint eggs...
...and spend Easter with us.
He stayed the week last week while I put together the final touches on my job's annual conference & spent two days in Ogden, UT running around like a crazy lady. It was really fortunate that his new job is being so flexible because both the girls came down with the worst cold we've seen all year. Cassidy developed croup & although Kalea didn't have the "barking, dry cough" she was up constantly coughing night after night. Even after a visit to our pediatrician who gave the all clear & said they weren't contagious, we just couldn't send them to the babysitter & I had the busiest week of the calendar year for work. So they had special bonding time with Daddy this past week.

This morning we dropped him off at the airport this morning & will see him...eventually! We're pleased that we've been approved for a home loan, even though we have a current loan out on our home here. He's going to work with our good friend & Realtor to find a home - and I'll move in sight unseen, what trust! Once all the decisions are made, papers are signed & moving truck has an end destination, the girls & I will load a jet plane & head East once again. Nuts, isn't it? So forgive me for the lapse in blogging lately...we've just had a little going on!

When we moved from Boston to SLC, N was 3 years old. We got all kinds of stickers to put on his boxes of favorite toys etc. so he knew right away which ones were his when they came off the truck. We also packed up one box of stuff and sent it on to our destination early, so that Nate had a sense of what the concept of moving/packing meant, and it wase waiting for him as soon we arrived. The moving truck took about ten days to drive our stuff out to SLC. Hope those little tips help! Anything we can do to help the next few weeks...please let us know!

That's a great idea, thanks for sharing. C is starting to understand what is going to happen. We talk about it a lot & I've gotten a few books about moving. And, it helps that Michael is already there so she kind of gets it...I guess we'll see when the day actually happens. She is already excited about a new house (& new car!) when we get to Atlanta. She told me that she hopes our new house is purple! :)
