night.

The other night I went out with a few ladies from church. It was a nice quiet night without the worries of kids waking up or getting out of bed without reason. It was nice to be Jackie without being Mama for a couple hours. On the way home, no surprise to anyone who knows me, I missed my exit & ended up on the nearly deserted highway longer than anticipated. (No, not a few hundred miles, thanks, but simply an extra exit.) During that stolen time alone in the car I got to thinking just how infrequently I'm alone anymore. I'm pretty sure it's been at least 2 years, 11 months since I went to the bathroom by myself. Not that I'm counting or anything.

Earlier this week I came by a special at the 24-hour fitness near our house &, after a year of talking about it, finally joined. The clincher was that, for $15 a month, I can drop off the girls while I work out + Kalea didn't cry one bit while I was taking the tour.

In any case, it made me think about taking time for me. It's really easy to focus on toddler.baby.husband.work.house.everything.else.but.me but to purposely take time for myself seems selfish. But, I know it's not & I'm trying to get back to time for me. And, I'm even thinking about starting to go to spin class.  Call me crazy, but I'm all in.

How do you find (or take!) time for yourself?

I'm training for a half marathon, so I run at least four days a week. I do it at night, when the kids are in bed. It means that I don't get home until close to 11:00 some nights, but it's worth it! There's a day care room at my gym, but I want to wait until Dylan can at least walk before using it for some (weird) reason.

I think that's what I'm going to have to do in order to really get there more than once a week. I admit that I intended to get up at 5 this morning to go before work, but just could not will myself out of bed!

What marathon are you doing? That's such a great goal!

It seems like we're all about changes these days, aren't we...

5:00 am sounds like a good idea until it is actually 5 am :)

I'm running the Detroit Free Press Half Marathon (I'm not ready for the full 26 miles!) I did it once, before kids, and it's a fun time - you cross the border into Canada and then come back to Detroit!

I love that image. Wow. Good for you for joining. I am a member of a gym but I hate going because I feel too fat and disgusting : (

I know what you mean. Sometimes I think gyms are made for skinny people!
