{week 26}

We headed back to Georgia accompanied by Grandma Betty. It was a long drive, but the kids did really well and Michael had lunch, a drink & blue iced cupcakes waiting when we arrived home around lunchtime. We spent the next couple days at the pool, crafting with Grandma, dressing for any weather that might arise (yep, it was the first day of summer. they were wearing mittens, scarves & hats) and getting in some good cereal stealing, snuggle time. After dropping Grandma off at the airport, the kids & I hit up the fountains at Centennial Olympic Park where the kids had a complete blast and then went home to pack & attend a Kilometer Kids practice. The week ended sadly, as our beloved Poppy took a turn for the worse in the hospital and passed on Wednesday. We were blessed to have made it to Macon in time to be with him and Gran during his last moments, as well as spending the rest of the week with family. He was celebrated in an amazing, standing room only service showing just how many lives he touched with his humility, humor, faith and love. There is no doubt will miss him. 

{week 17}

Week 17 was well documented! Both Cassidy & Kalea had their (first) gymnastics recitals. Both girls did a great job. While Cassidy was poised and proud, Kalea made the whole audience laugh because she had such a big grin & waved the whole time - pretty indicative of their personalities! We had a couple play dates at the house & the park behind our neighborhood then headed to visit Gran & Poppy for the weekend. While we were there we visited a strawberry farm a couple miles from their house. All three had a delicious time picking strawberries & eating fresh strawberry ice-cream afterward - as evidenced by red strawberry faces!

There's no stopping it now. We're officially on the extracurriculars, sports & kid's activities train. Both Cassidy & Kalea are participating in a local U4 soccer league. It's really laid back & so far they, mostly, like it. Kalea is technically too young for the team so about half way through the 45 minute weekly Saturday practice she gives out & is just plain done - which is perfectly acceptable when you're 2! 

The league runs for just six weeks & they spend half a Saturday practice doing "skill work" & the other half of the practice "playing a game". This part is both my favorite & Cassidy's favorite. She likes it because she scores lots of goals. I like it because it's mass hysteria. Each kid actually just keeps her/his own ball & dribbles it back & forth from goal to goal, shoots & scores. Over & over. Just imagine two goals, a dozen or more small people running back & forth yelling "GOAL!", a dozen or more soccer balls, a handful of siblings both younger & older getting in the way, a dozen or more helicopter parents yelling "good job!" & two wild-eyed, wonderful, well meaning coaches. Hysterical.

Last summer Cassidy & Kale experienced their first baseball game in York with Grandma & Grandpa. Since then we've gone to see the Bees play in Salt Lake City a couple times & the girls have a blast each time. During this visit to PA, we headed to see the York Revolutions play once again. This time Aunt Jenny, Uncle Mark & the newest cousin, Audrey, went with us. Fun times!
