In a nutshell: sibling fun & fights, outside time dressed as a Thanksgiving settler, Cade started using a plate at dinner - as a projectile, Jackie got a haircut, Cassidy was a gardener for career day/community helper day, we made funny faces, Kalea conned me into stopping for donuts after school, Cassidy wondered why Daddy's drink had a Capri Sun straw & we got (almost invisible) snow flurries.

project 365 photo: 02.09.2011
Hi out there. I know it's been a while, but life has been opening a lot of doors lately. Not to be cryptic or anything. Blogging, well the "words" part of blogging at least, has kind of taken a back seat to laundry, housecleaning, cooking, and refereeing little princess #1 & #2 (who, btw, not only learned the word "no" in the past two weeks but also "mine." clearly I spoke too soon.) But, we're doing well out here in the Mountain West, especially on days like today when there were blue skies & snow capped mountains all around.

fun in the snow
This past weekend we were lucky enough to have friends come out to play in the greatest snow on earth. Guests & Michael went skiing on Friday & Sunday - enjoying the 15+ inches of snow that came down overnight on Thursday night. Saturday we rented snowshoes from REI & headed up Millcreek Canyon. We had a great time - even when we ran out of snow half way up & had to ditch the snowshoes & just hike the rest of the way. The girls did a great job hanging out in the carriers & giving Mommy & Daddy a little extra workout.
Although the snow was fun, we're ready for spring to come, the weather to warm up & the germs to head out of town. We've been passing the ick around the house since after Christmas. We're beginning to plan what to plant in the garden this year & to make lists of house projects to do between the cold, cold of winter & the hot, hot of summer. Wish us luck in accomplishing everything!

a video or two...
We've been hanging out enjoying some quiet time (well, relatively so with toddler + newborn!) before the house fills up for Thanksgiving. This past weekend it snowed & accumulated enough to stick for the first time this season. Michael & Cassidy played outside for a little while; Jackie & Kalea stayed inside where it was warm & cozy.
We're slowly preparing to have 12 people stay in our little house for a long Thanksgiving weekend - getting shopping lists together for the big day, checking the air mattress for leaks...we even purchased a 2nd fridge! Jackie is going shopping later this week, so put in any requests now! Cassidy is busy this week making the table decorations. Construction paper + empty toilet paper rolls + glue + feathers = happy, messy toddler! Any guesses on what the end product will be?

Happy New Year!
The past few weeks have been a whirl for us. In brief...
Snow! - We missed playing in the snow the first time it came this year, but on 12/23 Michael took Cassidy out to experience playing in the snow for the first time. I don't think she quite knew what to do with herself, but clearly enjoyed herself. And, of course, we did take some pictures.
Christmas in PA - Cassidy *really* walked for the first time. Apparently she was just waiting for an audience! We got to spend lots of time with family - Grandma, Grandpa, Aunts, Uncles, extended family & especially her cousin Sean. She loved playing on Great-Grandpa Stein's rocking chair.

NYE - Then, back to snowy Utah to get ready for Uncle TJ & Auntie Sarah to visit for a Canasta tournament...and New Year's Eve. Cassidy didn't make it to midnight, but we toasted for her. The Wii & college bowl games kept us busy while they were here. Here's the munchkin geared up for both the Penn State & Georgia games. (I swear she put the hat on herself - and took it off & put it back on & took it off & put it back on. About a hundred times.)
2008 has been a great year for the Lumps & we wish everyone the best in 2009!
