on the move.

Cassidy said she was going to visit Grandpa & Poppy.
The week has flown by without the time to blog. We've been busy with school, work, playing &, unfortunately fighting off the stomach bug that's been going around lately. Fortunately it's only hit Jackie & Michael which makes for miserable parenting but at least not miserable children.

This morning we had some family photos taken as part of a fundraiser for Cassidy's preschool. The photographer, Pocahontas Fauss, owner of Reddaisy Photography, was great at coaxing some smiles out of a grumpy, shy, almost 3 year old & hopefully managed to get a few shots of the entire family too.

Speaking of preschool, Cassidy is enjoying school twice a week. Although when asked about school she still tells me, "I no wanna talk about it Mama," eventually stories come out about playing, learning, arts & crafts, new songs & new friends. We can tell that her vocabulary & thought process are advancing with more descriptive words & questions about things around her. We're hitting the "trying threes" pretty hard these days too with meltdowns & battles over the smallest things. I fully understand the phrase "trying" since it's a test of my patience to get through trivial, daily activities with a little person who can go from the sweetest, silliest child to...well, quite the opposite in a matter of seconds. I just keep telling myself that it has to be a phase that will pass in time. But, if you're the praying kind, feel free to pray that the time will be incredibly short!

Kalea is as cute as ever following around her big sister as much as Cassidy will tolerate. She's still cruising from piece of furniture to the next & has stood on her own for just a few seconds a couple times this past week. I'm excited for her to reach the walking milestone, but not too excited...that means I'll have two to chase! Aside from that she's babbling up a storm & has started to have expressive "conversations" with anybody nearby. She's been particularly enthralled with her reflection lately. My favorite is when she leans in for a kiss from the cutie in the mirror!

We're on the move & busy as can be enjoying the cool, fall weather!

It is a beautiful fall day here in Chicago, too — really warm! Hope you are well now and the bugs will leave you alone. Just visiting from SITS Saturday Sharefest.

Oh Man! I know what you mean about the trying threes! A lot of my friends BREEZED thru the threes and the twos were their issue. Not us. Three was a little trying... : ) I miss having littles around. Miss it so much! : (

Can't wait to see your family pictures. I know they will be fantastic because you have a beautiful family! Love, Becky

Oh no, if threes are more trying than twos, I'm in trouble! I am going to need to build a martini ice luge, and you are more than welcome to come share!

I really am hoping it is short lived, but I wouldn't be surprised if it lasted a while. My girl will *never* be known as quiet, reserved or soft spoken...traits that, in the long run can be fantastic. For now though they kinda drive me nuts! :)

I'm all over that. :) Martinis here we come!

Ya, I do that too: lean in for a kiss from the reflection in the mirror...is that wrong?

Nah - just honest. :)

It's such a joy to watch the little ones toddle behind the bigger ones. That's the best part of siblings!

I just told Cassidy last night at dinner that she's *always* going to be the big sister...even when she's 30, married & has kids, her little sister will still call her up to ask how to cook spinach.

I might be projecting there a little, but I hope it's somewhat true. I love the relationship I have with my sisters. :)
